This is my first time buying this brand and I was hesitant to buy the shoes because 1) they are quite pricey and 2) there were no other customer reviews. I caved in and bought them along with a pair of Columbia hiking boots. I am keeping the Helly Hensen ones.
With these shoes you get the comfort of a sneaker reformed as a hiking boot. I am a size 9 regular width and these felt true to size and fit like a light glove. I have only walked around the house with them just to test comfort and fit. And they do feel very comfortable. Just for comparison, the Columbia pair felt stiff and bulky. I’ll try to post an update once I wear these.

I bought these Helly Hansen Cascade Mid HT boots along with a pair of Columbia hiking boots. Despite the price difference between the two pairs, I ended up keeping the HHs because of the difference in comfort. This is my first experience with HH boots/shoes of any kind, never even heard of the brand until I saw them here on Zappos.
PROs: Fit – I wear a size 9 medium, very average foot, and these boots fit like a glove. I even have enough toe wiggle room for thicker socks. Toe box is wide enough for me, again, with a little room but not too loose. The padding around the ankle is just the perfect thickness that you can feel secure wearing these boots without it feeling too bulky, but still layer with socks if you choose to. The laces are long enough to allow for a tighter or looser lacing. Arch support is decent – I have a pesky plantar fasciitis in my left foot which flares up after about 4 miles; it did not happen with these boots. My feet felt very stable the entire time. The boots are light weight and feel like sports/running shoes. That is, they are flexible and not stiff, they allow your feet to mold to insole. Sole grip is excellent – it does not trap in smaller pebbles. They are cute too 🙂
CONs: None at the time of this review.
I have not yet had a chance to test them for waterproofness. But the upper material seems like a very good quality material, the seams are sealed very well. I was really torn on spending the amount of money on these boots, but the quality is truly there, my feet are happy, and I do not regret spending the money on them. (I’ll try to update this review when I get a chance to test for waterproofness.)

I am not a hiker girl so for serious hikers I’m not sure this review will help you. But I love these shoes. The are really comfortable and provided instant support. The fit for me was true to size. I wore these shoes with both thick and thin socks and the laces work well to loosen or tighten as necessary.

Perfect fit right out of the box. Hiked 6 miles in them the first day I got them and they still felt great!

Appeared to be a well constructed boot but for me there was not enough room in the toe box. Over all size was true, just not enough wiggle room and pinching on the toes. Can’t say there was any arch support either, and not much cushion. However, if the fit was right, I would liked to have kept them as a nice light weight hiker.

LOVE these hiking boots! Very comfortable/wide enough toe box. I usually wear a size 8 in boots/sneakers but needed an 8 1/2 in these boots.

The top of the boots around your ankles are very stiff and hurt. Love the way the foot feels and works but painful around your ankles.

Nice hiking boot, a bit on the larger size–I wear an 8 in hiking boots, and these are larger than I need in the length. But, they are comfy and look great–really good looking boot and the color is nice–I got the grayish blue ones. I have to return for a smaller size, but think they will work well.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these boots! I bought them 1/2 size up so I could wear them with thick socks for winter hiking (Northeast). I especially love the wide toe box. The only issue I had was there is a hard bit on the inside of the upper ankle that I need to make sure is covered by the tongue of the boot so it doesn’t chafe.

These are very comfortable as hiking boots, however, for me personally the toe box was a bit narrow with the sock. Sadly had to return.

Had a pressure point near the tongue, top, inner. Couldn’t figure it out so I’m returning.

Hard thick seam in tongue applies uncomfortable pressure against my right foot. Had to return them

Beautiful stylish boots. I loved them. Just felt that I might be better served by a size 6 and maybe a bit more width in the toe.

Just spent a week in Yosemite chaperoning our school group. Walking on paths, rocks, snow trails, mud and through puddles 5-10 miles a day. We had sunny days and rainy days. I purchased the boots a month before. Felt they fit right out of the box, but did wear them around the house and a few outdoor tests before going to make sure. I appreciated the padding around the top. No hot spots nor blisters on the trip. HH has a normal towards wide toe box as compared to the Salomon I tried which had a normal towards narrow toe box. I wore medium thickness ski socks with it and I’d say my foot is normal toward wide. The tongue is gusseted so it keeps out the dirt and rain. I loved the lug sole of the boot. I could go anywhere on any surface. It was one of the main reasons I picked this boot out of 5 I tried. It felt safe. The boots are comfortable, sturdy but not stiff. Along the trail my feet did not get tired, which was a noticeable surprise. I stayed warm and dry. On our really rainy days (2) the boots stayed dry. At the end of the night, I did put them near the dryer to get rid of the outer dampness, same as I did with my waterproof ski pants and jacket. I had great ankle support with the two lace eyelets at the top. I’ve trusted HH for years with other gear they make, but have never before used their shoes. These hiking shoes did not disappoint. I wear a size 10 in athletic shoes and purchased a 10 in these boots. Would highly recommend!!

Fit was great. While making final decision, the shoes made some clicking sound as I walked around.
