These are a great fit for overtop your regular pants. Tad bit short, but I will take that over the unusually long fit of most rain pants. Size wise, I went up to ensure a good fit over pants and to not make them too tight in the waist for comfort.

If this review was a yogurt commercial, I’d call these my “Practical, focus on the function and not the form” pants that have so far been a blessing during this unpredictable New England “winter.” To start, the sizing: you’ll probably want to go up by one, especially if you plan on wearing them over another pair of pants/tights/etc. The fit is not unlike ’90s windpants, e.g. they’re not vanity sized (which is something I’ve come to like about Helly Hansen, the first piece of which I bought was a winter jacket this past fall). Which means, too, if you’re a petite lady, you’ll be happy to learn that an XS is truly an XS, and so on. (For context: I stuck with the medium, and wear about a size 6 in pants right now.) The feature that’s really the unsung hero, though is that they’re windproof – meaning if you’re running out to start your car on a cold morning, the wind won’t whip your legs and leave you freezing (or if you’ve put off outdoor walks, you no longer have an excuse – just add a pair of sweats or fleece tights underneath and you’ll be good to go). Last, I’ll mention that I debated between these and traditional snow pants (which would also offer a waterproof/windproof function), and kept these due to the versatility – spring tends to be wet here, too. My only other wish is that the waistband was a bit higher (the rise hits just under the belly button), and that the legs were slightly more tapered – if you choose to tighten the ankles using the attached velcro straps, be prepared for Michelin Man-style legs.

So far so good, no pockets though.

Sadly the legs were so wide and long that I couldn’t walk in them.

These pants run very small! I am a standard size medium in most women’s brands. These felt like an extra small. Love the style though, so I will exchange for a larger size.
